The first annual wild hare 12hr race was a blast… besides bonking twice! There was not one research info, suggestions from race veterians, or past experience that could have prepared me for my first 12hr race like “growing a pair of balls” and a little “TFU” to get me through my first race and finishing! Really!! There is truly not enough information out there to seriously prepare you for your first 12hr race.

For all that did compete in this race will defiantly remeber the heat index of 115 degrees F and 35 mph wind. Both of these elements combined with the terrian of Eastern Iowa slowed the whole pace of the race by a good couple of hours, which in turn brought the overall finishing time average to 13.5 hours….
